Not Another Guide

After steering countless friends, and acquantances in the right direction whilst they were on vacation to New York City, it was a conversation at a party, the venue for some of the most brilliant ideas, which begat the idea of Not Another Guide.

Through this conversation it became apparent that more people want to travel, and visit a city, to feel a part of the ˜scene’ rathan than simply viewing popular tourist sites, and there was a gap in the market for a simple way to get this sort of information. After all, who hasn’t given or received ˜inside’ suggestions of where to go and what to do in a city, based on someone's first hand experience?

There are some brilliant guides out there, doing a great job but lets face it, once something goes to print it can’t be changed and besides, so many of us don’t want to carry around an oversized travel guide.

There are also plenty of websites listing great information, with reviews¦but, who is writing these reviews and, with so much advertising how can you really be sure that the information given is not inflated? Additionally, once you’ve found a great place to eat, where is the best place to go afterwards?

We asked ourselves; what if we could provide a travel guide that would suit everyone, and could be updated regularly? What if it were written by locals, rather than people visiting once and writing a review? And what if you didn't have to go to a store or sift through pages of information to get what you need? What if it could be accessed easily, and instantly? What if it were a source, already laid out for you that you could carry with you, like a printed guide but more relevant and up to date?

Basically, we wanted the 'inside' list for all the major cities that wasn't so easily available in a bookstore.

After months of research, Not Another Guide was born. The name actually came about during this research when, exasperated after discovering hundreds of travel guide sites, we looked at each other and said ˜Not another guide?

And so it was born, a site that has guidess written by a local which contains of the moment information, without having to spend days of research dissecting what sounds appealing to what really is.

The information is easy to read, intelligent and honest, it's also funny, witty and personal.
